On May 1, 2007, Gala Casinos announced that they closed a deal stating that all 6 of the Great British Poker Tournament (GBPT) events will be shown on ITV4 this coming autumn.
The Production Company, Presentable, are the main pioneers of the television poker show boom back in 1999 with the show Late Night. They are already taping the Great British Poker Tour 5 day event in Edinburgh, Teeside, Nottingham, Bournemouth and Leeds. The action from each poker table will be covered in detail.
Following their launch in Edinburgh in February, the GBPT stop in Teeside. The next GBPT activity will be held in Nottingham from May 9-13, 2007. Further activities in Bournemouth and Leeds will be held this summer before the GBPT culminates in a Grand Final that will be held in Bristol in November 2007.
The Host of the Series will be Alex Jones. Some celebrities will also grace the event like Michelle Heaton, Doug Henshall and Norman Pace. Nick Potter from the Gala Casinos said that this is a mutual partnership with ITV and Presentable, which will further enhance the status and popularity of the Great British Poker Tournament.
David Fewings from the ITV4 Channel Controller said that they are looking forward to the coverage of the GBPT and he is sure that it will be a great event for the game of poker. Megan Stuart of Presentable also said that they are looking forward to working with the other parties to make the event more memorable.
