The Inaugural WPT Stop in Venice, Italy

The world poker tour (WPT) will make its inaugural stop in Italy on Wednesday, May 6th, 2009, with a 4,000 euros+400 euros buy-in cost no-limit holdem tournament at Casino Di Venezia in Venice, Italy. The WPT Main Event will take place on May 6th, 2009 until May 10th, 2009 and aside from the prize money, the eventual champion will win a World Poker Tour bracelet and a $25,500 entry cost into the World Poker Tour Championship.

This will be a non-televised poker event. Participants who made the trip to the PokerStars European Poker Tour (EPT) Grand Final in Monte Carlo will be making the short journey to Venice to participate in this event including veteran poker player Lee Markholt.

There will also be two side poker events featured in Venice, a 1,000 euros+100 euros no-limit holdem event that begins at 4:00 p.m. CEST(7:00 a.m. PDT) on May 9th, 2009 and a 300 euros+30 euros no-limit holdem event that starts at 4:00 p.m. CEST(7:00 a.m. PDT) on May 10th, 2009.
