In Texas Hold'em two blinds are used instead of the traditional ante in order to stimulate betting. The first blind is placed by the player to the left of the dealer and is referred as the small blind. This blind is usually half of the minimum bet at the table. Afterwards the player next to him posts the second blind, which is half of the maximum bet on the table and referred as the high blind.
Each player is being dealt to cards face down. These are the hole cards. This is followed by a betting round. Then an additional three cards are dealt face up in the center of the table. Those are the board cards. Those cards can be used by any player at the table to form his hand. They are followed by another betting round.
Then two additional cards are dealt face up, each of them followed by a betting round. The first is called the turn and the later the river. After the river is being dealt and the second betting round takes place there's the showdown. The objective is to create the best hand using your hole cards and the board cards in any combination.
