On September 16th, 2007, Debra Gudina became the champion of the Arizona State Ladies poker Championship. It takes a lot of courage, talent, patience and even luck to win such prestigious championship.
Gudina possess all of those characteristics as she triumphed at the 2007 Arizona State Ladies Poker Championship and defeated the rest of the field. This was just the second year of the Arizona Ladies Poker Championship tournament and Debra Gudina, who is from Phoenix Arizona, won the top prize of $50,000 from the $125,000 guaranteed cash pool.
Dave Smith from the Casino Arizona said that Debra Gudina won $50,000, the championship trophy, the title of this year's champion of the Arizona State Ladies Poker Championship and a magnificent diamond gold necklace.
The heads up showdown featured Gudina against Nancy Hellner from Scottsdale, Arizona. The winner received an additional $25,000. There was a lot of money wagered in the final pairing of the event. There were also a lot of people that watched the final event of the tournament.
Debra Gudina is now recognized as the Queen of Poker. The tournament last year was such a tremendous hit that the poker room was widened this year to allow fifty more participants, improving the 1st place prize money by $10,000. This is a good development in the poker circuit because female poker players now make up a big percentage of the poker industry.
