FSN to Broadcast the World Team Poker Event

Fox Sports Net and World Team Poker finalized an agreement on May 28th, 2010 for broadcast of their brand new international poker tournament between the top poker pros in the world for the pride of their countries.

World Team Poker is a worldwide poker sports league with well-known poker pros acting as captains for their own countries. Each captain chooses the poker pros that will represent their national team. They will play in a series of poker games for the recognition of being World Team Poker Champions.

World Team Poker's first event, which was held at the Golden Nugget casino on May 19th, 2010, will start off the new TV series. A teaser episode will be shown on July 14th, 2010. Television viewers will see the poker drama unravel over one hour episodes, shown all over the US on Sunday nights, starting in September 2010.

Each episode will show the captains coaching poker players and deciding on player substitutions. TV audiences will be able to see a level of team work not previously seen in poker as the team captains try to create the perfect match-ups and place experts in different poker games on the felt for their own specializations. All team players can participate as long as their team has enough chips to play.

At any time, the captain can substitute a participant back into the game, sending a fellow player to bench or different poker table. But the chips cannot be move to another table. If a team member gets removed from a table, that player is not out of the poker game. Each of the five tables will continue play until there are two players left at each poker table.

Once the final pair of players from each table have been determined, those remaining teams will combine their chip stacks with the chips of their teammates. Multiple finalists will mean more chips for the group, however only one player from each team can sit at the final table. It will be up to captains to create a strategy for the final showdown.

This will test the skill of each participant on a personal level, while judging the leadership qualities of the captains. Regional airing will be shown on FSN throughout the week.
