Florence County Sheriff's Office to Hold Poker Run and Deer Hunts

The Seventh Annual Bikes and Badges Poker Run, organized by the Florence County Sheriff's Office, will be held on Saturday, October 7th. The Sheriff's Office will also be holding its 11th Annual Deer Hunts, an event which will take place throughout the entire deer season.

The poker run, also held by the Horry County Sheriff's Office, is one of the major fundraisers of Florence County Sheriff's Office programs. It will begin at Creek Ratz in Murell's Inlet and take the participants 57 miles to H.B Spokes located in North Myrtle Beach. The group will have stops that include the Stool's Pigeon Restaurant and the House of Blues.

Vehicles, such as motorcycles, cars, trucks and more can participate and play poker in the poker run. Registration forms can be obtained at the sheriff's office in Florence and Horry counties, as well as in Doug's Harley-Davidson in Florence and Myrtle Beach Harley-Davidson.

Meanwhile, the deer hunts will include Friday to Saturday overnight trips that will allow father and son teams to set up camp at a local hunting club.

The Sheriff's office also scheduled 2 dog drives, one to be held on October 21st at Pamplico's Pinewood Game Club and the other on November 11th at Marion's Wahee Gun Club. All youngsters who participate will be given prizes donated by event sponsors.

The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources is set to have its shooting simulator available during the day at the hunts.

"The sheriff's office hopes to introduce approximately 150 youths to the experience of hunting and also teach them gun safety along with the preservation of our outdoors," said the Florence County Sheriff's Office, as stated in a press release.
