With both the world series of poker Europe and the London stop of the PokerStars European Tour starting off back-to-back next month, the United Kingdom was already positioned to become the center of the international poker circuit.
Now, the first English Poker Open is adding to the buzz with a $5,300 buy-in event at Dusk Till Dawn in Nottingham on September 15th, 2009 until September 17th, 2009. With a two hundred seventy player cap, the English Poker Open (EPO) is expected to attract some of the best poker players in the world.
11-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth, the legendary Doyle Brunson, British poker pros Joe Beevers and Liv Boeree confirmed their participation on the event. As of August 6th, 2009, just 117 slots remain available and several online poker rooms like Full Tilt Poker, Littlewoods Poker and Cake Poker Network are offering satellite events. The 3-day poker event will feature 10k beginning stacks, 60-minute levels and an 11 hour 1st day.
The EPO is hosting a 2-day 500 pounds No-Limit freezeout beginning day two and a one-day 250 pounds No-Limit freezeout on the day of the final table.
