Doug "Rico" Carli continued to prove his worth as the most prolific poker player in the world series of poker Circuit (WSOPC) history on December 6th, 2009, achieving a record 40th cash-in with a 2nd place finish at an Atlantic City preliminary event.
Carli, who is from Alliance, Ohio, finished in 2nd place to Shawn's Sniffin from New Jersey in the $500 +60 No-Limit Hold'em tournament at Harrah's Atlantic City Sunday that attracted 621 players.
Although Carli said that he was a little disappointed with having to take home $32,980 for finishing in 2nd place instead of the 1st place cash prize of $60,237, he has no issue being the best poker player few individuals have ever heard of. Carli said that he just lets his results speak for themselves.
The fifty-four year-old retired stock broker won his last Circuit championship ring in the H.O.R.S.E. event at Caesars Indiana almost two years ago, but he does not spend a lot of time showing it off.
At this point, Carli's record appears to be almost unreachable as the poker player with the second most cash-ins, Dean Shultz, has just twenty-one compared with Carli's forty. The event was just the 2nd of seventeen for the World Series of Poker Circuit at Harrah's Resort Atlantic City, which continues through December 20th, 2009.
