David Baker Wins the 2-7 Draw Lowball No-Limit World Championship Tournament

David Baker considered himself a good poker player before the 2010 WSOP (world series of poker) even started; he just had a difficult time convincing his peers that he was the real deal.

After his performance in the first few weeks of the WSOP, Baker will never again have to prove that he is one of the best poker players in the circuit. On June 12th, 2010, Saturday, Baker outwitted one of the best playing fields ever gathered at the World Series of Poker for Event#19, a 2-7 Draw Lowball No-Limit World Championship event.

Baker outwitted poker pros like Eric Seidel, Daniel Negreanu, John Juanda and others to become a first time winner at the World Series of Poker. Baker had already started making his mark in the tournament earlier in the month. In the $50,000 dollars buy-in Poker Player's Championship, Baker finished in 6th place.

For his performance in Event#19, Baker won $294,321 dollars and now he is setting his sights on trying to win the player of the year award. Aside from Event#19, Event#20, a Pot-Limit Omaha event, is reaching its conclusion on Sunday, June 13th, 2010.

John Barch is the current leader with 1,860,000 in total chips. Nenad Medic is in 2nd place and Trai Dang and Klinghammer Thibaut are the only other poker players left in contention out of the 885 players that participated in the event.

Four players are still remaining in Event#21, Seven Card Stud event. Poker player Christine Pietsch is the only remaining player with 1,000,000 chips. Richard Ashby is the short stack in the event with 110,000 in total chips. Darren Shebell has half of Pietsch's total chip stack and Dan Heimiller has 200,000 chips.
