Danny Chevalier Wins the ANZPT Queenstown Poker Championship

Poker player Danny Chevalier from Melbourne, Australia won the PokerStars Australia New Zealand Poker Tour's Queenstown Championship on July 25th, 2009, taking home a total of NZD $87,435 in the process. The NZD $2,500 poker event held at New Zealand's SKYCITY Queenstown casino facility saw one hundred thirty-four participants creating a cash pool of $301,500.

After 4 1st day flights and a Day Two that played down from ninety-two players to the eighteen-player cash bubble, it took just eight hours to play from eighteen players to a champion. The win was very special for Chevalier given that he actually stayed in Queenstown for more than a decade.

The Queenstown Championship was the fourth tournament in the ANZPT's inaugural poker season and by making the final eighteen players, Tony Hachem, the brother of 2005 world series of poker Main Event champion Joe Hachem, has now cashed in every one.

As a result, Hachem leads in ANZPT's Overall Points Champion race which guarantees the champion a PokerStars.net sponsorship to the APPT (Asia Pacific Poker Tour and the Aussie Millions Main Event. Heading into the 5th and final Season one event stop, Only ANZPT Melbourne champion Chris Levick can catch up with Hachem in the leaderboard.
