Charity Poker Run For Accident Victims

A group of people are banding together once more to show support for those in need.

Dozens of motorcycle riders will ride together in a poker run on November 25th to raise money for a boy who was injured in a car accident.

13-year-old Travis Long was involved in an accident in September when the all-terrain vehicle that he was driving flipped and landed on his leg. Long survived the incident and luckily the doctors were able to save his leg from being amputated.

However, according to friends of the Long family, the Long's do not have the medical insurance to cover the bills from Travis's treatment.

As a gesture of goodwill, the money that will be raised in the poker run will also benefit Aaron Lietzau, a 53-year-old Groveland motorcyclist who was severely injured in October in an accident that occurred on Highway 301 in Sumter County.

The Poker Run scheduled to take place on Saturday will begin at 10am at the Champions Yamaha of Leesburg on US Highway 441. Participants for the poker run will travel to different locations to pick up poker cards. Towards the end of the poker run, the motorcyclist with the best poker hand will win prizes.

The entry fee for the poker run is $10. Food will be provided and music will be featured throughout the event.
