On November 1st, 2007, the stakes will be bigger on each succeeding episode of the High Stakes Poker on GSN. Poker pro and legend Doyle Brunson said that it will be like be war out there. The minimum buy-in cost for the tournament will be increased from $100,000 to $500,000, beginning with the episode from November 5th, 2007.
Poker legend Doyle Brunson will be one of the participants in the event and even though the player that is considered to be "The Godfather of Poker" has been active with the poker circuit for a number of years and participated in the grandest and biggest poker tournaments available in the circuit; he said that he is prepared for any eventuality.
Brunson said that he never expects that this kind of thing will happen in prime time television. Most of the poker players that will participate at the High Stakes Poker game are top class pros like Barry Greenstein, David Benyamine, Daniel Negreanu, Jamie Gold and Patrik Antonius.
There will be amateur players that will be participating in the tournament like Guy Laliberte, the co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Cirque du Soleil. The billionaire entrepreneur, who is from Canada, will get a lot of space from his opponents not because of his skills but from his huge bankroll.
Brunson said that Guy has a good advantage in this tournament. Laliberte said that it is a good venue for him to relax.
