Brett Parise Wins Asia Pacific Poker Tour

On August 28th, 2007, a 22-year old college student from the state of Indiana won the first part of the first ever PokerStars Asia Pacific poker Tour in Manila after three days of exciting gaming activity. Brett Parise of Indiana, United States won a total of $180,000 and a slot at the tour final on December in Sydney, Australia.

Parise, who is a college student at the University of California taking up political science and economics was the youngest participant in the final nine players for the final table of the tournament. About 200 participants from 30 different countries joined the three day affair.

Top poker pros like Joe Hachem, the wsop Main Event champion in 2005 and Vanessa Rousso busted out during the first day of the event. Parise, who has been playing poker since he was 18 years old, won his slot in the APPT by winning a free online competition.

His mother, Jayne Parise said that she was not informed about his son's participation in the APPT in Manila until his son informed her. She said that Brett's dad will be accompanying him to the final in Sydney.

All of the nine participants shared the $500,000 prize pool. Parise said that he saw poker as a good way to make some extra cash but he said that he has no plans to play poker full-time. He added that he plans to finish his degree.

The next stop of the APPT will be in Seoul, South Korea in September and two other stop in Asia that yet to be decided by tour organizers before the final in Sydney, Australia.
