Over 370 poker players doled out $5,000 to get into the game at the Main Event of the Betfair Asian Poker Tour.
The registration for the Betfair Asian Poker tour is already closed but after the qualifying events set to begin in Singapore on Nov. 12, it is expected that more that 400 players will be vying for the Main Event.
Should the Main Event reach a field of 400, the first placer will bag $558,700, the second placer will get $299,800, while the third placer will get $149,000. These prizes will be coming from a prize pool of roughly $2 million.
"This is the largest poker tournament to take place in Asia and the first poker event in Singapore," said Betfair's Head of Poker Ben Fried. "We are privileged to host such a groundbreaking event."
Poker players coming from thirty-two countries will play alongside a large field of local talents for the Main Event which is slated to take place over a period of three days beginning Nov 15th. The tournament will take place at the Mandarin Ballroon of the Meritus Mandarin Hotel in Singapore.
The Betfair Asian Poker Tour will take place from Nov. 12th to the 17th, 2006. On the first day of the tournament, side events and satellites are scheduled to take place. Meanwhile, the Main Event will be from Nov. 15th to the 17th.
The Betfair Asian Poker Tour will be televised internationally.
