On June 2, 2007, poker pro David Williams is one of 3,800 participants to register to play at the first $1,500 buy-in poker event at the 2007 World Series of Poker Event.
The cards are up in the air for the first of the six $1,500 buy-in no limit hold'em poker tournaments for the 2007 World Series and the number of participants who will accept those cards is astonishing.
The unofficial headcount from the official provider at the 2007 World Series of Poker is a total of 3,000 participants plus 800 alternates, bringing the total to about 1,000 players more compared to the 2,700 players that participated in the event last year. The hallways were packed with alternate players waiting for their chance to participate in the poker rooms.
Harrah's will be utilizing the Amazon room, the poker pavilion and the Rio poker room. Some of the events will see 2 or more poker professionals at the same table, like Phil Ivey and Daniel Negreanu playing against each other.
Some of the other big names playing that day are Chad Brown, Mike "The Grinder" Matusow, Phil Hellmuth and Annie Duke.
In other news, Josh Arieh is still in the $5,000 mixed hold'em event that was supposed to start at 2:00 p.m., but has been pushed back to 4:30 p.m.
Chances are that it will be moved back as they will need to eliminate some players from Event#3 to have enough poker tables to start the poker tournament.
