On June 4th, happy with the success of its Manila, Philippines leg, the Asian Poker Tour (APT) has improved the ante and announced that the tour will feature a guaranteed cash pool of $1.5 million for their next stop in Macau. The APT Macau will take place at the StarWorld Hotel and Casino starting on August 26th, 2008 and will end on August 31st, 2008 and will feature a buy-in cost of $5,000 + $300. This is the largest cash prize pool offered in a poker event in Asia.
The cash pool increased announcement was made in APT Manila by APT Chief Executive Officer Chris Parker. Around 300 players participated in six day poker event which showcased some of the well-known poker players in the circuit like Huck Seed, Mansour Matloubi, Nam Le, Quinn Do, Chip and wife Karina Jett, Evelyn Ng, and Steve Sung. The final results of APT Manila are 1st, David Saab from Australia who won $280,000.
2nd, Chris Roh from South Korea who won $150,000. 3rd, Satoru Ishi from Japan who won $100,000, 4th, Kwang Soo Lee from South Korea who won $73,000. 5th, Michele Ferrari from Italy who won $55,000. 6th, Man Jin Yun from South Korea who won $45,000. 7th, Don Carmon from the Philippines who won $35,000.
8th, Terry Gonzaga from the Philippines who won $25,000 and Gerasimons Deres from Sweden who won $20,000. The Asian Poker Tour in Manila also set a historic record in terms of player participation in a poker event in the Philippines. Around 316 players participated in the event.
