In 2007, Goa will be hosting the biggest event it has ever seen. From March 1-5, 2007, the Asian Poker Classic (APC) will take place in the Indian resort-state.
Goa is set to undergo transformations in 2007, in a bid to place itself as one of the premier destinations for gambling in Asia. Plans to build a number of luxury casinos are already underway, a move that will certainly make Goa a rival of Macao, presently known as Asia's gambling capital.
The Asian Poker Classic promises to be all the more exciting with the appointment of Australian poker expert, Thomas Kremser, as tournament director.
"The Asian Poker Classic is not just the biggest poker event scheduled for India in 2007 - it's one of the biggest events anywhere in the world. With big names ready to take part and Goa the perfect setting, it's the most exciting new poker tournament of the year," Kremser said.
The Asian Poker Classic is expected to be attended by many Hollywood and Bollywood celebrities. The exact list of A-listers will be released in the weeks leading up to the event.
As Sachin Pawa, Majarajah Club CEO of tournament sponsors stated, "We are proud to be associated with such a prestigious event. The APC will promote poker in India and we look forward to the APC becoming a fixture on the poker circuit."
