APPT Features First Ever Poker Event in Mainland China

On October 27th, 2007, the next stop of the APPT even of PokerStars will be at the Grand Waldo Hotel and Casino in Macau. The $2,500 buy-in cost main event will be the first ever poker event in China.

APPT President Jeffrey Haas said that they are excited to introduced poker to Macau because of the former colony's developing reputation as a premier gaming destination in the world.

The poker event series is scheduled to begin on November 27th, 2007 with its $2,500 poker main event as its main offering as well as its $15,000 High Roller poker game. Several top poker pros already confirmed their participation in the event like some members of Team PokerStars.

Gary Woollard, the Galaxy Grand Waldo Casino general manager said that poker is currently experiencing a good growth these days in the Asian Continent and they are proud to be a part of these great undertaking. The Grand Waldo Hotel and Casino is one of Macau's top class casino/resort destinations.

Sarne Lightman, the director of marketing for PokerStars Asia Pacific commented that PokerStars is committed to the advancement of poker as a global sport. He added that through their involvement with poker tournaments like the European Poker Tour and the APPT, they are able to give their gamblers the chance to participate on different poker events all over the world.

The former colony of Macau is the 3rd leg of the APPT tournament which started in Manila, Philippines in August. It has made a stop in Seoul recently. The final event will be held in Sydney, Australia.
