The 39th Edition of the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas

The 39th world series of poker is fast approaching. This year's edition of the WSOP will have fifty-five bracelet poker events, which will start from May 30th, 2008 and will end on November 10th, 2008. The event will be held at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino facility in Las Vegas, Nevada. The 39th edition of the WSOP will now feature 9 poker events with buy-in costs of at least $10,000.

Aside from the popular events like the $50,000 H.O.R.S.E. and the Main Event, players will have the opportunity to join the ten thousand World Championship event, each representing a WSOP type of poker game. The first of the fifty-five poker events will start on May 30th, 2008 but poker tournament enthusiasts will need to wait a while to find out who won the final table of the 2008 WSOP Main Event. Some recent modifications have imposed a 4 month break in the main activities after the final table finished.

This will give permission to the WSOP to show their usual World Series of Poker in-depth coverage after the series has finished but follow that show with the crowning of the World Series of Poker 2008 Main Event champion on November 11th, 2008.

Last year's champion, Jerry Yang from Temecula, California, U.S., edge out 6,358 players including runner-up Tuan Lam from Ontario, Canada to win the $8.25 million out of the total cash pool of $59,784,954.
