The 2009 Irish Poker Open Tournament

On April 10th, 2009, as has been the situation throughout the weekend, the 2009 Irish Poker Open Tournament has been lead by poker players that most industry watchers are not familiar with although there are two well-known poker players sitting at the final table. One of the participants at the final table is UK journalist Kara Scott.

Having studied Muay Thai while she lived in Canada, she became a sports presenter for martial arts show "Now is the Time: Night of Combat". She was also the host fo the fist televised backgammon show, High Stakes Backgammon, produced from the 2007 World Backgammon Event for Game Television in Canada and Pokerzone in the United Kingdom. Kara also hosted the first part of the World Series of Backgammon in 2006 which was shown across the European continent on Eurosport, Poker Channel Europe and Game TV in Canada.

In 2007, Scott lost a prop wager to Chris Tessaro, the Host of the Hardcore Poker Radio, resulting in her having to do the commentary for the European Poker Tour San Remo while wearing a bunny suit. Occupying the 7th slot is Swedish poker player Christer Johansson. Johansson won more than 1 million dollars in live poker events to date.

In February 2003, Christer Johansson won the WPT 1st season Grand Prix de Paris tournament, taking home five hundred thousand dollars after defeating players like Allen Cunningham and Tony G. In September 2005, Johansson finished in 2nd place in the EPT 2nd season Barcelona Open, outclassing Patrik Antonius and Gus Hansen at the final table.

The final table are Lee Brooke Pearce with 998,000 in total chips, Andrew Pantling with 2,284,000 chips, Andrew Bradshaw with 351,000 chips, Kara Scott with 701,000 chips, William Kassouf with 569,000 chips, Bradley Verburg with 217,000 chips, Christer Johansson with 906,00 chips and Atanas Gueorguiev with 990,000 chips.
