18 Talented Finalists Remain in the Mirage Poker Showdown Final

On May 22, 2007, after a starting field of 309 players, the WPT Mirage Poker Showdown has been narrowed to 18 players and those players left competing for the first place prize of $1.06 million including some of the most respected poker players in the live and online poker world.

That day, Darrell "Gigabet" Dicken (with 1.167 million in total chips) showed why he is a formidable online poker player. Dicken holds a 2 to 1 chip leader over second place player, Cory Carroll (with 697,000 in total chips).

Carroll is also a known online poker player who is one the favorites to win the Caesar's Palace WSOP Circuit Championship Event. Behind the 2 players is 5 time WSOP bracelet holder, Phil Ivey (with 475,000 in total chips). Despite making it to 6 WPT final tables, Ivey has never won a WPT Title.

The other known names that made it to the final table are poker pro Amnon Filippi (with 532,000 in total chips), former WPT champion Nam Le (with 136,000 in total chips), Mirage Poker Champ Winner David "The Dragon" Pham (with 107,000 in total chips), former WPT World Champion Alan Goehring (with 60,000 in total chips), John D. Agostino (with 186,000 in total chips), Davidson Matthew (with 111,000 in total chips) and Shannon Shorr (with 197,000 in total chips).

Aside from the announcement of the winner for the WPT VI, the next host for the tournament was also revealed. The new host will replace Sabina Gadecki. Gadecki's predecessor is Courtney Friel who replaced Shana Hiatt.
